Historical Security Council
AdvancedCommittee Topics
Set in Medieval Europe, this committee will take you back to the end of one of the most important and well-known conflicts of medieval Europe! The Hundred Years’ War is perhaps one of the most well-known conflicts of the medieval era, with battles such as Agincourt or Crecy still being remembered by historians today. The war, which was in fact a series of spontaneous conflicts with both periods of peace and intense fighting, was a conflicts originally between England and France related to the succession dispute which arose with the death of John I, the last member of the senior branch of the Capet dynasty, with Edward III of England claiming the throne through his mother Isabella. Following the fall of Bordeaux, which effectively ended all hostilities in the war, delegates will travel back in time to represent kings and nobles in an imaginary setting, where they will write a treaty that will shape Western Europe henceforth. From Scotland to Portugal, noble lords, princes, and kings represented by delegates will have to come up with a treaty to end and resolve one of the most famous conflicts in medieval history. Delegates will have to ensure that all claims are satisfied, disputes are resolved, and that lasting peace is ensured. However, conflicting interests may lead to some taking the less diplomatic path—choosing the powers of intrigue, mischief, and even force—in order to gain what they desire. The Historical Council will be full of emotions and scrutiny as it tries to settle the scores between England and France.
